Reminiscing about AM Music Radio in St. Louis

Not everything I post here will be about the law.  I’m a long time native of St. Louis, Missouri.

I just went through another time warp. While driving tonight, I listened to a man named Ron Elz (AKA Johnny Rabbit) serve as host of a music show on St. Louis radio station KMOX. He is quite the music historian, especially focusing on “Route 66” music from the 60s. It’s fun to relive those tunes.

I say RElive because I was THERE back then, having been born in 1956. I used to listen to radio station KXOX back then as the DJ played the hits of the day. That DJ was also named Johnny Rabbit. I listened to his show often. I joined the “Johnny Rabbit Army,” which entitled me to an official Johnny Rabbit ID card. That was how we got our music back then, and I remember that period and those tunes fondly.

But the truth is that this is the SAME Johnny Rabbit, and he has been on the radio for 63 years. He hasn’t lost a beat, his stories are engaging and when I hear him, it’s like I’m sucked into a time warp and taken back to where I was 8 years old.

Thanks, Johnny, for then and now.
